Panasonic to Postpone Sanyo Tender Offer Until Late April 2009
February 27, 2009
Panasonic announced on February 27 that it will reveal details of its planned takeover of Sanyo at the end of April, indicating a substantial delay in Panasonic's purchase plan, the Kyodo News reported, adding that Panasonic was originally set to complete the tender offer by late March, 2009.

The postpone is arguably attributed to legal processes in the United States and countries in Europe and Asia to clear antitrust concerns, which have taken more time than expected. Pursuant to the agreement signed by the two parties in December 2008, Panasonic will acquire a 70.5% stake in Sanyo for approximately 800 billion Yen (US$9.0 billion; US$1= 88.7Yen).
